The Outer Vibe is a 5-piece alternative rock/pop band from Grand Rapids, MI that features a female
trumpet and keytar player. The energetic group throws a party onstage with wall-of-sound guitar, dance
inducing drums and bass, and powerful lead vocals. The band’s live antics and fun atmosphere are in high
demand among festivals, colleges, rock clubs, parties, and events throughout the Midwest region.

The Outer Vibe has independently released 3 original CDs (“Pretty Good” 2003, “Games We Play”
2006, and “Monster EP” 2009.) They have sold roughly 2,000 albums since January 2009 and roughly
7,800 albums overall since December 2003. They are currently working on their fourth full length album
with a tentative release planned for spring/summer 2012.

The Outer Vibe performs 100+ shows a year, and weekly audience numbers average from 400-4,000
people. Their street team has over 1,500 active members who help promote the band in eight states and five
countries.

Their latest release, “Monster EP,” has received airplay from mainstream radio stations including 97.9
WGRD (Grand Rapids, MI), 97.5 WJIM (Lansing, MI), 101.3 WFOX (Grand Rapids, MI), 95.5 WJZJ
(Traverse City, MI), and many other college and independent radio stations. The Outer Vibe was chosen
to be a part of 97.9 WGRD’s 2008 and 2009 Bootleg compilation albums. Past artists chosen include:
Shinedown, The Fray, Fuel, Everclear, Our Lady Peace, Dashboard Confessional, and more.

In 2009, The Outer Vibe partnered with Michigan State University’s Community Music School to start
and instruct a highly successful Rock Camp, giving teens an opportunity to learn what it takes to start a
band, manage it, and perform live shows. Rock Camp has since quadrupled in size, expanding into Grand
Rapids (St. Cecilia Music Center) and Holland (Hope College with Tulip Time Festival), and is constantly
receiving requests from other Midwest cities. Rock Camp happens throughout the year in the form of
summer camps, weekly classes, and weekend workshops.

The Outer Vibe members recently opened the doors of their brand new, state-of-the-art recording studio
and practice space that features top notch audio gear and professional instruments. Aside from writing,
rehearsing, and recording their own albums, the band members all use the space to teach music lessons and
record other bands and solo artists.

Rock Camp testimonials

“Thanks for being such a positive influence and I hope you will continue working with the young bands,
because you guys are terrific in every way. Thanks!” – Danielle Post, Rock Camp parent from Bancroft, MI

I encourage parents of aspiring musicians to check out the band The Outer Vibe. They are tight as a
tourniquet and as entertaining as any band I’ve ever seen, but it’s not their musicianship or creativity that
prompts me to write. I am most impressed by their professionalism, their enthusiasm and ability to teach,
and the family friendly environment they create for our kids to learn and perform. As a parent, it’s great
fun to see the kids perform. As a music connoisseur, it’s great fun to see The Outer Vibe bring the house
down afterwards. Thanks to The Outer Vibe and MSU’s Community Music School. I hear my kids already
practicing for next semester’s classes. – George Zenker, Rock Camp parent from Haslett, MI

“I am pretty sure I can speak for all of the parents by saying how thankful we are for your dedication. You
should be just as proud of yourselves for being a band that cares about the importance of music in a child’s
life. My family and friends will never forget this night. Thanks again!” – Jerry Murray, Rock Camp parent
from Grandville, MI

“Thank you for everything The Outer Vibe did for those Rock Camp kids. They were all fabulous! I would
also like to thank you for the great change I see in my son. His confidence in himself and his self esteem
has sky rocketed. You do so much more than just teach. You inspire and give support. That is awesome.
Thank you.” – Jamie Murray, Rock Camp parent from Grandville, MI

“I want to thank you for all of the amazing stuff you did this week. You taught me lots of good information
on the keyboard and trumpet. Also, I learned how to get the best reaction out of the crowd with stage
presence. But you made every minute fun! I am so excited to see what new things you do at the next rock
camp. You have inspired me to create my own band! It was so fun being able to work with a band as
awesome as yours. I Love your music and it was so fun being able to play with you at Common Ground
2010!” – Charlie Szur, Rock Camp student from Williamston, MI
