In the summer of 2008, The Outer Vibe and the Michigan State University Community Music School partnered to create a Rock Camp aimed to teach teens everything there is to know about forming and maintaining a successful rock band. The Outer Vibe ran their first Rock Camp at the MSU CMS in East Lansing, MI in July 2009, and the camp has since spread to Grand Rapids, Holland, and Detroit. By popular demand, The Outer Vibe’s camp runs several times a year in the forms of summer camps, weekly classes, and day-long workshops, including the new 21+ Rock League for adults.

This Rock Camp differs from other similar opportunities because the students learn the entire rock band experience from all five members of The Outer Vibe as a team. Students will experience firsthand how to effectively book, promote, and prepare for a show; branding and imaging; songwriting and gear; interpersonal communication skills; and much more, all firsthand from a touring band!

The members of The Outer Vibe have all earned various college degrees: Associate of Recording Technology, Bachelor of Education, Master of Music Performance, and Master of Music Theory. The Outer Vibe has been a band for over ten years and has been a limited liability corporation (LLC) for five years. The band is completely independent, managing everything for themselves from booking to websites and graphics to press and promotion.
