Instructors

Lisa Kacos – Keys, Trumpet

Lisa Kacos received her Bachelor of Music in Composition and Theory from Michigan State University and a Master of Music in Music Theory with a Pedagogy Emphasis, also from MSU.

In addition to performing with The Outer Vibe and teaching at Rock Camp, Kacos has played trumpet in various types of ensembles for 17 years and has taught private lessons for 10 years. She currently teaches music theory, aural skills, and applied trumpet at Grand Rapids Community College.

Lisa’s Rock Camp duties include: scheduling and registration, teaching piano/voice sectionals, and coaching band rehearsals.

Nick Hosford – Guitar

Nick Hosford received his Master of Music in Guitar Performance from Eastern Michigan University as well as a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance. He also earned an Associate of Music with an emphasis in Recording Technology and Classical Guitar from Grand Rapids Community College.

In addition to performing with The Outer Vibe and teaching at Rock Camp, Hosford has played electric, acoustic and classical guitar for 13 years and has taught private lessons for 11 years. He currently teaches Music and Computers (using ProTools and Logic) at Grand Rapids Community College.

Nick’s Rock Camp duties include: teaching classes on booking shows/gig etiquette and musical equipment, teaching guitar/bass sectionals, and coaching band rehearsals.

Andrew Dornoff – Bass

Andrew Dornoff received an Associate of Music in Recording Technology and Upright Bass Performance at Grand Rapids Community College. He is currently finishing his Bachelor of Music Performance at Grand Valley State University.

Dornoff has performed for nine years in 10 different countries, including the United States, Japan, Indonesia, and New Zealand. He has taught bass for six years and is proficient on all types of bass and guitar.

Andrew’s Rock Camp duties include: teaching guitar/bass sectionals, coaching band rehearsals, and making sure every student has a part to play in their band’s songs (tablature wizard).

Sean Zuidgeest – Vocals

Sean Zuidgeest received his Associate of Music with an Emphasis in Recording Technology and Classical Voice from Grand Rapids Community College. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Kendall College of Art and Design.

Sean Zuidgeest has performed for 12 years and is currently the lead vocalist for The Outer Vibe.

Sean’s Rock Camp duties include: Organizing and teaching the classes (marketing, promotion, songwriting, rock history), teaching piano/voice sectionals, and coaching band rehearsals.

Jeff Brems

Jeff Brems received his Associate of Law Enforcement from Grand Rapids Community College and his Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Aquinas College.

In addition to performing with The Outer Vibe and teaching at Rock Camp, Brems has played drums and percussion for 17 years and has taught private drum/percussion lessons and drumlines for seven years.

Jeff’s Rock Camp duties include: teaching drum sectionals, coaching band rehearsals, and overseeing promotion for the camps, workshops, and camp concerts.
